Antonio Silva elated with title shot

Just a few days after he thrilled the fans of Mixed Martial Arts with a brutal knockout victory over Alistair Overeem at UFC 156, the first pay per view event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2013, Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva got that call that he had waited for almost his entire career in the UFC, but had not hoped would come so early after his shock victory. The former contender at the Strike Force Heavyweight Grand Prix has been offered a shot at Cain Velasquez and the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 160 and he has gleefully accepted that offer.

And although he was very happy with the offer, he admitted that he had not expected the offer to come his way so early in his wildest dreams. But that changed when he heard that he would be the man who Cain Velasquez would defend the title against for the first time since regaining it from Junior dos Santos in December at UFC 155. It was a moment when his dream came true, but for the Brazilian, merely fighting for the title just won’t do – he wants to win the title and realize all his dreams.

He stated that he was absolutely elated when he heard about the offer and come the 25th of May, he will realize his dream and fight for the title and then go on to become the new UFC Heavyweight champion.

Moreover, the chance to fight Cain Velasquez is much more than a title shot for Silva - it is a chance at redemption after the champ had knocked him out to take victory in his very first match in the UFC back in May 2012. And one year on, he will get the chance to avenge the loss and inflict more damage on Velasquez.
