Stann Thought he had Knocked out Bisping

Brian Stann managed to stun Michael Bisping in the first round of their clash at UFC 152, but The All American was unable to finish the job off and ended up losing his match the UFC Middleweight Championship contender at the event. This was just the second loss that Stann suffered since he moved down a weight class to Middleweight, having lost to Chael Sonnen last year.

And the former World Extreme Cage Fighting Light Heavyweight champion admitted to his aides that after the mauling he handed to Bisping in the first round, he tough that the match was more or less done and dusted. And in an interview with FUEL TV just after the match, Stann admitted that even Dana White, the president of the UFC came to him after the match and stated that he thought that he had won the match.

With so much going on in the UFC over the last couple of months, starting from the cancellation of UFC 151 to the injury sustained by the UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, the match was a bright spark in the promotion’s event. Although all the pre-event hype before UFC 152 was centered on the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship match between Jones and Vitor Belfort, many people had thought that this match between Stann and Bisping would be a blockbuster and in the end, that is how it turned out to be.

Bisping also did himself a favor by winning as he finds himself in the thick of things and could be in line for a UFC Middleweight Championship match against Anderson Silva. As for Stann, he also needs to put together a winning streak in the next few months to be in line for a title shot, just as Bisping has managed to do now.
